A Greener Future in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen, thanks to Avnet’s efforts! |

Colleagues from the Avnet China offices Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen had been working hard to keep the local environment clean and green! Around 70 employees recently participated in a series of environmental initiatives—from local clean-ups to mountain expeditions, our dedicated employees are taking action to protect our planet.
Shanghai employees get ‘plogging’ on World Cleanup Day
A team of Avnet volunteers jogged through the streets of Shanghai while picking up garbage—known as “plogging”—in honor of World Cleanup Day. Celebrated on Sept 20, World Cleanup Day is a global movement that mobilizes people to collect waste and protect the environment.
This year marked the first time the Avnet team participated in World Cleanup Day. Despite heavy rains on the day, a group of 12 donned ponchos to collect nearly 14 kilograms (roughly 30 pounds) of garbage in the Jing’an District of downtown Shanghai. Of that amount, approximately 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds) were recyclable.
“World Cleanup Day is a chance for everyone to show they care about our planet and to take action to keep it clean and healthy,” said Lily Han, a program management manager who participated in the plogging event.

Mountain Cleanup in Shenzhen
The team in Shenzhen recently participated in the annual Mountain Cleanup event on November 13. Nearly 30 volunteers, including employees from both Avnet and Farnell, dedicated their time to clean up Tanglang Shan in Nanshan District, Shenzhen. Together, they collected dozens of bags of litter, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.
Lulu Zhang (Manager I,CS) and Amanda Leung, Manager I of Pricing & Quote, who both have participated in the event for two consecutive years, shared their thoughts:
“Although it is tiring to clean the mountains and forests, seeing the mountains and forests become neater and more beautiful with our efforts, we feel a sense of accomplishment and reverence for nature, and understand the responsibility of environmental protection.” – Lulu

Park Cleaning in Beijing
Avnet Beijing organized a park cleaning activity at Beijing Baihe Urban Forest Park on Dec 5. 28 enthusiastic employees also rolled up their sleeves and spent two hours cleaning the park. They meticulously collected litter, removed debris, and tidied up various areas, transforming the park into a cleaner and more pleasant space for the public.
Grace Ding, Director I, Field Application Engineering in GFAE / Beijing, shared her experience: "The time of collaborating with partners was full of warmth and strength. Everyone thought in one direction and exerted efforts in one place. There were no complaints but only contributions. This kind of team cohesion made us believe that as long as we work together, there’s no difficulty that can’t be overcome."
