Avnet Shines in the IoT Star Awards

Avnet was recently placed in the top 40 companies in the influential IoT Star Awards in China.

First-Time Entry, Great Result

Held annually since 2008, the IoT Star Awards are jointly organized by IoT Media, AIoT Star Map Research Institute, China IoT Industry Application Alliance, and Shenzhen IoT Industry Association. This year attracted more than 500 entries, and it was the first time that Avnet has participated in the awards.

The judging criteria included the size and annual performance of the company; revenue and profit growth over the last three years; the launch of game-changing new products and investment in the research and development of new ones; and the company’s position and reputation in the IoT industry or related segments.

The selection process spanned more than three months, and took into account votes from netizens as well as industry experts.

We are extremely proud to fared so well in our debut year – a year that saw a remarkably transformed market landscape. As we all know, 2022 saw the easing of coronavirus safety measures and the emergence of new post-pandemic norms. Digitization and the development of IoT was accelerated across almost all industries, from healthcare to agriculture and commerce, generating abundant challenges and opportunities in the process.

The results of the IoT Star Awards confirm that together we managed to overcome the obstacles and seize the opportunities, thus ensuring the success of not only our business but also the businesses of our suppliers and customers.

Seizing Opportunities Amid Challenges

Recently, Avnet’s first release of IoTConnect on Amazon Web Services (AWS) was launched and poised to help Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions simplify and decrease their time to market by more than 50%.This IoTConnect platform will help OEMs that are designing cloud connected solutions overcome the pressures of time to market, scalability, reliability, maintenance, and security. The platform provides customers with overall solutions to accelerate the process of customers' digital transformation.

Other than AWS, the IoTConnect cloud platform can be also deployed on Microsoft Azure data centers and other infrastructures at the same time, covering most countries in the world and covering almost all IoT application scenarios.

In addition, Avnet capitalized on emerging opportunities in the VR and AR markets, integrating chips, software and hardware to provide our original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers with powerful design solutions. Our Cloud team has also been actively deploying scenarios to welcome the early arrival of the metaverse era.

After the Matter wireless interconnection agreement was ratified in October, we provided our customers with design solutions supporting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread and other channels. Meanwhile, we collaborated with module suppliers to produce RF modules that helped speed up our OEM customers’ product journeys to market.

In addition, we paid special attention to enterprises and non-traditional customer groups (NTC) by developing Windows 11 IoT systems and supporting solutions for leading telecom equipment suppliers, as well as data acquisition systems for leading disk equipment manufacturers.

By seizing all of these opportunities and more, we ultimately ranked behind TE Connectivity and STMicroelectronics, and ahead of Nordic Semiconductor and Silicon Labs.

Balancing Growth with Innovation

Grace Dong, Regional President of Avnet China, said, “Considering the calibre of the competition and the fact that this is the first time we participated in the IoT Star Awards, our top 40 ranking is an outstanding achievement, which is a recognition on Avnet’s capability of incorporating our cutting edge technology into IOT product designs. China’s huge domestic market and fast speed of urbanization are triggering many innovative IOT related applications. Now more than ever it is important that we keep one eye on the bottom line and one eye on IOT industry development. Avnet China will maintain our rigorous research and collaboration with our suppliers and customers. I would say well done, Avnet China!”

Congratulations to Avnet China. You are stars indeed.
