Indian Mountaineer Inspires Women to Reach New Heights |

At “Climb Your Everest – Managing Challenges in Life”, an event organized by Avnet India in honor of International Women’s Day, guest speaker and veteran mountaineer Ms Vasumathi Srinivasan shared her inspiring story.
A growth mindset overcomes all barriers
The event was attended by a physical audience of female and male employees at our Bangalore office, and live-streamed to colleagues in other Avnet India offices.

Having conquered the world’s most challenging mountains, including the Karakoram pass, Everest Base camp, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Snowman trek in Bhutan and the Leh- Siachen Glacier expedition, Vasumathi’s story underlined the fact that gender and age are no barriers to success when there is a growth mindset in place.
The rapt audience was visibly moved by Vasumathi’s recollections of her life’s challenges, not all of them mountains. The embodiment of mental and physical strength, courage and determination, Vasumathi sent a loud and clear message to all present – nothing is impossible!
Transferable lessons
In addition to a growth mindset, Vasumathi credited collaboration and teamwork as integral to her success. It resonated among the Avnet audience, who from experience knew exactly what can be achieved when we reach further together.
The event drew resoundingly positive feedback from attendees. Vasumathi’s life lessons were easily transferable to all challenges in life, both personal and professional.
Reflecting on Vasumathi’s story, Divya Sonali Minz, Director, Human Resources, said, “Life is full of challenges. Unless we accept it and embrace change, we will never grow to the fullest.”
