Samtec and Vishay, leading global manufacturers of electronic components, have both recently recognized Avnet as their top-performing distributors in the fiercely competitive markets of India and Taiwan respectively.

Helping Samtec Secure a Series of Wins
Samtec honored Avnet with the title and trophy of Best Performer of the Year for the calendar year 2022 in a first-time awards ceremony in Bangalore, India. Avnet had helped the interconnect industry leader secure several wins in a challenging year. In particular, Avnet’s efforts were integral to Samtec achieving a major breakthrough with a major electric vehicle customer base in India.
In addition, Samtec lauded Avnet’s advance material planning to help it meet tight and time-sensitive production schedules, and the tremendous support from our salespeople in co-presenting design solutions to potential customers.
This pervasive spirit of partnership saw Avnet’s business with Samtec grow 80% in 2022, making it the fastest growing distributor among Samtec’s six distributors. The new business came mainly from solar inverters and electric vehicle components. And from all indications, the growth looks set to continue into 2023 and beyond.
The prestigious award was presented to Avnet, after a cordial lunch meeting in a Bangalore hotel, by Ravindra Kumar, Country Head, Samtec India, and Fabian Kim Par, Human Resources Manager, Samtec Asia Pacific. It was received on behalf of Avnet India by Avnet’s Deepesh Nayak, Supplier Management Specialist, Samtec.

“We are overjoyed to receive this award from Samtec. It will motivate the team to continue working closely together, with each other and with our customers, to achieve even better results in the future,” said Deepesh.
Victory for Vishay and Avnet
Shortly after the Samtec honors, Vishay bestowed a similar laurel on Avnet Asia at our Taipei office in Taiwan. Vishay ranked us number 1 among its semiconductor distributors for the second time, reinstating us to the top spot we had occupied in 2016.
The award recognized Avnet Asia’s outstanding performance and commitment to the development and distribution of Vishay’s semiconductors products. Avnet trumped our competitors in gaining the highest scores in distribution, taking into account factors such as POS and POA growth, inventory management, and design registrations.
The award was presented by Vishay’s Mike Phua, Vice President, Market Development, Asia Sales, and received on behalf of the team by Avnet’s Victor Lim, Senior Director, Distribution, Asia Sales, and Clement Lee, Director, Distribution, Asia Sales.
