Colleagues Club Together for Shanghai Coastal Cleanup |

In November, 52 staff members from our Shanghai office headed to Dongtan beach on Chongming Island, Shanghai, to clean up the shoreline.
Ocean’s Keepers
kilograms of coastal waste, beautifying the environment and supporting the health of the marine ecosystem that resides on and around the island.
The event was organized by members of the Human Resources Department and mobilized employees from all departments. Among the volunteers were HR Director Welcome Wang, ADS Director Wei Wei, SPM Director Kary Cai, and Sales Director Tom Wang.
Conservation, Education and Collaboration
Shirley Li, who works in the Finance Department, praised the event for its ecological and educational benefits. “It raised my environmental consciousness and deepened my understanding of the importance of looking after our coastal regions,” she said.
In addition to the positive impact on the environment, the occasion also provided an excellent opportunity for employees from different departments to meet, mingle and practise teamwork at a manual level. As the photos show, it takes two to hold a trash bag open – especially when navigating the crevices of a sloping retaining wall!
In-depth Knowledge of Ecology
Following the coastal cleanup, 40 employees of Avnet Shanghai attended a fascinating lecture on ocean environmental conservation, conducted by the Shanghai Rendu Ocean NPO Development Center.
ESG Efforts
The coastal cleanup is part of Avnet’s ongoing ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) efforts to benefit the environments and communities in which we work, around the world. Kudos to the organizers and volunteers who walked the talk and stashed the trash!
