Our Singapore Colleagues Are Great Sports! |

In August, our colleagues in Singapore showed their team spirit on two occasions – at Avnet Bowling Night 2022, and on Singapore’s National Day, at an office party and quiz afternoon.
Bowling is Up Everyone’s Alley
Avnet Bowling Night took place at Orchid Bowl at Orchid Country Club and attracted an impressive turnout of around 120 colleagues, divided into teams. Kudos to the Human Resources for organizing the event around bowling, an inclusive sport that appeals to serious and not-so-serious athletes alike.

Congratulations to the winning team comprising James Tan, SVP Human Resources, Asia Pacific and Japan, Foo Say Peng, Global Director, Ethics and Compliance, Judy Chia, senior customer service manager, and Grace Ho, Human Resources Manager; and to the individual women’s and men’s champions Judy Chia and Foo Say Peng.

Fun and Serious Benefits, Too
Judy Chia, who took home two trophies, said, “It was a great night that everyone enjoyed. Thank you to Human Resources for making this event happen.”
Foo Say Peng, men’s champion and winning team-member, echoed his sentiments. “Winning isn’t everything, though of course it felt good. The best part of the whole evening was simply having fun and being reminded that our colleagues, bosses and peers alike, are regular people, too. It was a great morale booster that brought us all closer together.”
Seeing Red (and White)
Another rousing show of team spirit took place in celebration of Singapore’s 57th birthday on August 9, when the entire Avnet Singapore office came dressed in the national colors of red and white and threw a patriotic party in the pantry.

A Trip Down Memory Lane
The afternoon’s festivities took on a local flavor with nostalgic snacks and childhood games. Light-hearted fun and games tested colleagues’ knowledge of the National Day theme songs and themes from 2013 to 2022.
Jolyn Ng, Manager II, Business Operations, spoke for everyone in attendance when she said, “It was such a fun and enjoyable time spent with fellow colleagues to celebrate our nation's 57th birthday – physically, after two years' hiatus due to the pandemic. The games, songs and the workout gave us opportunities to come together and get to know one another. Thanks to the HR team for making this event an enjoyable and memorable one.”
