Avnet Singapore Celebrates Earth Day with Beach Clean-Up |

On the morning of April 23, our Singapore colleagues hit the beach at Pasir Ris, a popular seaside neighborhood in the east of the island, for the first-ever beach clean-up event.
Walking the Sustainability Talk
The 60-strong crew, consisting of employees and their family members, took to the shore with gloves, trash bags, tongs and a mission – to put the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values into action.
The event was not only a great show of commitment to sustainability, but a joyous reunion for many colleagues who had not seen each other face-to-face (aside from video conference calls) for as long as two years.
Lynn Peh, HR manager and the organizer of the event, said, “I am heartened to see the enthusiasm of employees who signed up with their family members. As a company, it is important that we do more than talk about our ESG values. We must walk the sustainability talk and actively educate the next generation about the importance of protecting the environment.”
Foo Say Peng, Global Director, Ethics & Compliance, who was joined by his 8-year-old daughter, said, “Hillary was thrilled to see all kinds of marine animals in their natural habitat, and learned a lot about the delicate coastal eco-system. It was a great learning and bonding experience!”
Isabelle Bang, GIS Business Data Analyst, who came with her 5-year-old son, Thaddeus, spoke for all when she said, “It felt so good to be outside, breathing fresh sea air and doing something meaningful with my colleagues, friends and family. I hope that there will be more opportunities like this in the future.”
Congratulations to the Singapore team for setting a shining example to all of us.
